In Hinduism, Lord Vishnu is one of the powerful trinity, also consisting of Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva. Among this trinity, Lord Brahma is said to be the creator, Lord Shiva is said to be the destroyer and Lord Vishnu is said to be preserver and Protector of the entire universe.

According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Vishu is believed to be birthed ten times. These ten lives of the protector of our universe are popularly known as Dashavatar. Out of these ten avatars, Lord Vishnu is believed to have already been birthed nine times as different avatars, namely Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narsimha, Vamana, Parashuram, Rama, Krishna, Buddha. Lord Vishnu came to earth many times as a human to restore the balance between good and evil. Lord Kalki is believed to be his final avatar on earth. He will be the epitome of all virtues.

Lord Kalki is presumed to be incarnated, on the 12th day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu month Vaishaka. He is assumed to appear at the end of the Kali Yug, which is approximately 426,878 years away. As the age of Kali advances, genuinely pure souls will disappear from the face of the earth. Humanity will completely abandon morale, and nothing will be known about sacrifices, even in words. Hypocrisy will become the new virtue. In Kali, wealth alone will be considered as one's sign of excellent qualities and nobleness. By the end of it, the path of Vedas will be completely forgotten and society will become animalistic and atheistic.

To restore justice and principle, lord Vishnu's tenth avatar--- Kalki, will be incarnated at Shambala, which is believed to be a mythical paradise, meaning "place of peace" where only the purest of souls can enter. In the Kalki Purana, Lord Parshuram explains to Kalki about his mission. He says, "You have learned the art of discharging arrows from me. You will imbibe transcendental knowledge from Sukadeva Goswami, and you will be awarded a powerful weapon by Lord Shiva. Your mission is to re-establish Sanatana Dharma. You will set out to conquer the entire world, and in the course of it, you will defeat many sinful kings who are representatives of Kali."

So, when people fail to distinguish between dharma and adharma, good and evil, and there will be no alternative left, Lord Kalki will come on a winged-white horse, named Devdatta, with a radiant sword. He will take the sword, ride on horseback, and will simply continue to kill all this evil and cause the destruction of the world. Thus, this will mark the name of another Satyug- the golden age of righteousness and truth.
